The meeting was called to order at 12:30 pm by President Judi
Judi welcomed our guests from Foothills – Randy Meyer, Jeff
Freebury, and Nina Krats. Randy updated
us on changes at Foothills. Due to the
lack of moisture this year, the course was dry but they were working on
watering, aeration, etc. New golf carts
are available for use this year. Randy
stressed that all members should update their information on the golf course
computer (I.e., senior, resident, club (9, 18, par 3)etc. Members will be receiving an email with tee
time identified 24 hours before your tee time.
The Starter would like golfers to check in 20-30 minutes before their
tee time. The clubhouse has a new coat
There was a motion that the minutes from the Fall
Meeting/Luncheon be approved.Copies of
the minutes were placed on each table at the luncheon and are also posted on
Judi said that 10 rounds of golf were donated by Foothills and
would be awarded throughout the meeting.Members receiving the rounds of golf also read a part of Section 1.
Judi introduced and thanked the current Board Members:Vice-President Nancy Werkmeister; Secretary
Laura Laux; Treasurer Kay Hide; Handicap Chair Linda Powell;Tournament Chair Barb Irwin; and Tee Time
Chair Stanzi Lucy.Judi also thanked our
website master, Gretchen Godfrey, for her terrific work on our website.
The Evans Bag Tags, which support the Evans full-ride
Scholarship Fund for caddies to attend college, were available.Judy Maillis explained that their were 700
applicants for the scholarships and approximately 13 were finalists for the
The 50/50 Money Pot this year will help fund our CWGA Team
(50%) and 3 winners will share the other 50% of the money raised at our
meeting/luncheon.Mary Doyen, CWGA Team
Leader, said the tournament will be held at The Ranch Country Club on September
25, 2017.The CWGA Team consists of 4
(A,B,C,D) members – according to their individual handicaps.
The Lakewood Cup will be held on July 12 and 13 this year.The is a Match Play tournament between
Foothills and Fox Hollow.Additional
info will be available mid-June.
Vice-President – Nancy Werkmeister
Nancy reported that we have 84 league members of which 18 are
new to our club this year.The new members were introduced and assigned
their Buddy.We could always use more
volunteers to be a Buddy for new
members.If you are not a Buddy this
year but would like to be on the waiting list to be a Buddy, please e-mail
Treasurer – Kay Hide
Kay reported on our Budget for the year.The budget was presented and approved by the
membership.Copies of our Financial Report
were available at each table.
Handicap Chair – Linda Powell
Linda asked members that when they post rounds of golf,
throughout the golf year, that they adjust their score before posting.League scores are always posted by the
tournament chair.A copy of the current
handicaps will be posted on the bulletin board.
Tournament/Rules Chair – Barb Irwin
Barb reviewed our 2017 golfing schedule.More tournaments were added this year to our
schedule which includes bringing back the Tombstone tournament.
Barb reported that our league will be using the Golf Genius
site.The Ringer scores and the tournament
Results will be recorded on the Golf Genius site.Barb thanked Linda Loveland for all her work
on recording the Ringer scores for the last several years.
Barb said that the new “proposed” Rules will not be in effect
until 2019.Laminated rule cards were
included in your 2017 league handbook.This
includes different golf situations and what to do in these situations.Handy card to carry in our golf bags!
The Accidental Movement of a Ball on a Putting Green – Rule 18.2,
18.3, and 20.1 were modified per USGA.This rule (#14) is included in
our Local Rules Section in our league handbook.
Barb reported that there are no Yellow hazard stakes at
Foothills anymore.Please review the
rules for Red hazard stakes procedures..
Tee Time Chair – Stanzi Lucy
Stanzi discussed and reviewed the Tee Time Procedures and
signing up procedures on Golf Genius.For easy reference, there is a section in our league handbook that
explains the Tee Time Procedures identifying deadlines, cancellation procedures,
B-Team – Jenny Elliott and Juna Orr
Jenny said that Lake Valley Country Club and Broadlands Golf
Club dropped out of the B-Team roster.There are only 6 teams left playing on B-Team:Applewood, Coal Creek, Indian Tree, The
Meadows, The Ranch, and Foothills.They
will recruit during the year to fill the two B-Team vacancies.They will have 5 matches this year.The B-Team schedule is included in our league
President – Judi Hart
Our luncheon was well attended with 63 members for lunch and
several members that came just for the meeting.
The 50/50 pot raised $467.Seventy-Seven ($77) was paid to each of the 3 winners and $236 will help
the CWGA Team Tournament with their expenses at the annual 2017 CWGA Tournament
at The Ranch in September.
Judi brought up having a breakfast versus a luncheon for our
2018 Spring Meeting.A vote was taken
and a breakfast/meeting won.
